University
Dachauer Straße, Munich
Striking extension building for the University of Munich.
The tight planning and construction windows and the inclusion of the listed neighbouring building demanded a high level of expertise and performance capacity.
The complex comprises an institute wing and lecture theatre wing, which – thanks to their spatial communication and design of the open spaces – create a campus with a pleasant atmosphere, both inside and out. Cues are taken from the neighbouring arsenal dating from the 19th century and incorporated into the multi-coloured brick facade, whose design resembles the appearance of tweed fabric. The façade captures the eye with its individual rhythm of differently sized windows.
The Rosa-Alscher Group has thus made a lasting contribution to shaping the Munich cityscape while simultaneously demonstrating its ability to tackle complex architectural challenges expeditiously, creatively and efficiently.
